ONCE UPON A MATTRESS CALENDAR
General Rules for a Successful Production
•Practice begins promptly at 2:45 after school. Remember that food and drink are not allowed in the auditorium. Please place your belongings on
one of the chairs in the upper left section of the auditorium. This will be a quiet work area when you are not needed for a scene.
•Attend all required rehearsals. It is impossible to produce a show when key people (that means everyone involved in a scene) are missing. You
must make the musical a priority in your schedule. Principal roles must attend every rehearsal. If you are in school and you do not attend
rehearsal this is considered an unexcused absence. If you have more than one unexcused absence, this means that you will no longer be a part of
the musical and will not receive a refund of any ordered items. You must have a note from a parent in order for an absence to be considered
excused. Excused absences include: illness, family emergencies, and planned family vacations that you wrote down on the survey your parents
completed. If you made us aware of a Tohickon activity (for example, Wind Ensemble) that you are involved in on your survey, we usually split the
time between the two practices, and these would be considered excused as long as you are in communication with us about it.
•Bring homework or something to do in case you have a break. We will not always be running a scene that you are in. Keep yourself occupied and
use this time to your advantage while not being a distraction to those who are rehearsing. This is an important lesson in the theater! Otherwise
the people on stage cannot concentrate. If you are not needed for a scene, please be a team player and be courteous to those who are rehearsing
by remaining seated and quiet. If you are a constant disturbance off stage, you will no longer be a part of the musical.
•Follow direction. We need everyone to follow the directions they are given in order to be successful. If this means running a scene, then do that.
If this means practicing a song, then do that. If this means sitting quietly for a little while, then do that. We need EVERYONE’S cooperation in this
matter because of the size of our cast.
•Please be sure to have a ride ready to pick you up promptly when rehearsals end! The directors appreciate your consideration of their time.
